Dan Baker is a cultural leader, producer and programmer based in the UK.

Recent roles include Programme Manager at Exeter Northcott Theatre (2021-24), co-founder/Chief Executive of Plymouth Fringe Festival (2015-20) and Creative Producer for Barbican Theatre Plymouth (2013-20).

 

As an arts leader, Dan has taken part in a number of prestigious programmes including Clore Leadership Pulse (2020), CULTURE RESET (2020) and the ISPA (International Society for the Performing Arts) Fellowship (2017 - 2020).

During a career spanning more than 20 years he has worked with the likes of The Old Vic, Theatre Royal Plymouth, The Bush, Greenwich + Docklands Festivals and Almeida Theatre in roles covering producing, project management, facilitation and outreach. Since January 2022 he has served as a Board Trustee for Plymouth Culture, supporting the organisation in enabling growth and delivery of culture across the city.

Trained at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama on the MA Advanced Theatre Practice course, Dan has produced a broad spectrum of work across theatre and live performance.

He has produced shows for companies including Box of Tricks Theatre, New Model Theatre, theMolinoGroup and Agent 160 Theatre - taking in venues and festivals across the UK and beyond including the Edinburgh Fringe, Wales Millennium Centre, Vineyard Theatre (New York) and Latitude Festival.

As a hard of hearing disabled person, and coming from a working class background, Dan actively campaigns for increased access to the arts for those from underrepresented and deprived backgrounds.

Dan has offered cultural commentary through vlogs, blogs and social media throughout his career, with various blog posts having been highlighted by The Guardian and A Younger Theatre - he has also written guest posts for the likes of Arts Professional and IdeasTap.

He frequently posts video insights into his leadership development on his YouTube channel, to offer others an insight into his development as a cultural leader.
